Device Management for Heart Failure

When the heart muscle has weakened to the point where medication alone isn't enough, certain implantable devices can meaningfully improve how the heart pumps and how a patient feels day to day. We assess whether a patient with heart failure is a candidate for CRT or a combined device, implant it, and provide the ongoing monitoring needed to keep heart failure from progressing further.

When it's usually needed

  • Heart failure symptoms not fully controlled by medication
  • Reduced heart pumping function confirmed on ECHO
  • Chambers of the heart beating out of coordination

Good to know

Duration: Assessment varies; implantation typically 1–2 hours

Preparation: Requires a prior ECHO and cardiology assessment to confirm candidacy.
